Waconia Public Schools take pride in both academic and athletic excellence, and our Pep Bands are a vital part of that tradition. The Waconia Middle School and High School Pep Bands provide spirit and support at athletic events, pep rallies, and other school and community activities — energizing athletes, fans, and audiences wherever they perform.
The Pep Bands are not only a source of school spirit — they also serve as ambassadors for the Waconia music program and the community at large. By bringing enthusiasm, quality musicianship, and pride to every performance, our students showcase the best of Waconia’s commitment to the arts, athletics, and community engagement.
The High School Pep Band supports WHS athletics and events by performing at football, soccer, volleyball, basketball, hockey games, pep rallies, and other school/community events.
Requirements:
Attend at least four pep band events per season.
Students involved in a school-sponsored fall sport are excused from pep band events that occur on the same day as their sport.
If post-season matches occur at home, a pep band will be provided as long as it does not conflict with other music department activities.
If there are attendance caps for State Tournament pep band members, priority will be given to students with the highest attendance during the regular season.
Uniform: Students are encouraged to wear their Waconia Band gear to all performances.
The Middle School Pep Band gives students their first opportunity to experience the excitement of performing at athletic and school events. By playing at selected games, pep rallies, and community activities, middle school musicians help build Wildcat pride while developing the skills and confidence they will carry into the high school band program.
Expectations:
Attend all scheduled pep band events.
Uniform: Students should wear school colors to show Wildcat pride.
